Frequently asked questions

What is the T2H21416 track rod end used for?
The track rod end is the outer balljoint of the steering linkage on the right-hand side of the Jaguar XF (X260) and XE (X760). It screws onto the track rod and its tapered stud clamps into the steering arm on the hub carrier, turning rack movement into steering angle.
What are the signs a track rod end needs replacing?
A worn track rod end shows as free play at the joint, knocking over uneven surfaces, vague steering and uneven tyre shoulder wear on the Jaguar XF and XE. A split or perished boot that lets grease escape is itself grounds for replacement.
Does anything need doing after fitting this track rod end?
Front wheel alignment must be checked and reset after fitting, because the threaded shank of the track rod end sets front toe on the Jaguar XF (X260) and XE (X760). Fitting without resetting toe causes uneven tyre wear and off-centre steering.
