Frequently asked questions

What is the MHC3170 radius arm bush?
The MHC3170 is a rear radius arm bush fitted at the forward body mounting of the radius arm. It controls fore-and-aft location of the rear hub carrier under acceleration and braking, and fits the Jaguar XJS and Daimler Limousine (1968-1992).
How many radius arm bushes are needed?
There's typically one radius arm bush per side, so most jobs use two for a full rear axle refresh. They're usually replaced in pairs so both sides wear evenly and the rear axle locates consistently on the XJS or Daimler Limousine.
Why does a radius arm bush fail?
Radius arm bushes typically fail as the rubber perishes or cracks with age and load, letting the arm move under drive and braking. Symptoms include clunks, wheel hop, and vague rear-end handling. A worn bush lets the rear hub shift out of position.
