What is the front wheel knuckle?
The front wheel knuckle is the suspension upright at the outer end of the front axle. It locates the front wheel hub and bearing and forms the steered pivot: the upper and lower arms connect through ball joints, the track rod end screws into its steering arm, and the brake caliper carrier bolts to it. This is the left-hand knuckle.
Can a worn wheel knuckle be repaired?
A wheel knuckle with a worn bearing bore, seized ball joint taper, damaged threads or impact distortion is replaced rather than reworked. It sets wheel bearing seating, brake caliper alignment and the camber and caster of that corner, so check the wheel alignment after fitting.
