Kettingspanner voor de distributiekettingaandrijving van de 5.0L V8 (AJ133) en 3.0L supercharged V6 benzinemotoren. Deze drukt tegen de distributiekettinggeleider om de juiste spanning te houden op de ketting die de nokkenassen aandrijft vanaf de krukas.

Onder invloed van de motoroliedruk en een terugtrekveer strekt de spanner zich uit om speling op te vangen wanneer de ketting slijt en uitrekt, waardoor de kleptiming nauwkeurig blijft en kettinggerammel of -verschuiving wordt voorkomen. Een versleten of defecte spanner laat de ketting verslappen, wat de timing kan verstoren en kan leiden tot ernstige motorschade.

What does the timing chain tensioner do?
The timing chain tensioner keeps the correct tension on the chain that drives the camshafts from the crankshaft. Acted on by engine oil pressure and a return spring, it extends to take up slack as the chain wears, keeping valve timing accurate and preventing chain rattle.

What happens if the timing chain tensioner fails?
