Frequently asked questions

What is the CRBS204PT.050 con rod bearing set used for?
This is a set of connecting rod (big-end) bearing shells that sit between the connecting rods and crankshaft journals, carrying the rotating load and maintaining the oil film. The .050 suffix typically indicates a larger machined undersize than the .025 set, for a more heavily reground crankshaft.
How is the .050 set different from the .025 or STD sets?
All three cover the same connecting rods, but at different bearing thicknesses. STD fits an unmachined crank, .025 suits a light regrind, and .050 suits a deeper regrind. Check your crankshaft's machined size before choosing.
Why do connecting rod bearings need periodic replacement?
They wear from oil film breakdown, contamination or high mileage, allowing the crankshaft journal to contact the shell directly. Left unreplaced, this increases bearing clearance, causes knocking noise and can lead to crankshaft damage.
Does this come as a full set or a single bearing shell?
It's a complete set covering all the con rod big-end journals on the engine, not a single shell. You won't need to buy multiple sets to cover a full engine bearing replacement.
