What does the fuel flap spring do?
The fuel flap spring is the return spring for the external fuel filler flap. It biases the flap open when the latch releases and keeps tension against the closed position. If the flap feels loose or won't pop open when unlatched, the spring is a typical cause.
Which models does this fuel flap spring fit?
This fuel flap spring fits the Discovery 3 (2005-2009), Discovery 4 (2010-2016) and Range Rover Sport L320 (2005-2013). It fits the L320 Sport only, not the later L494, despite the general listing, so check your generation before ordering.
What's the difference between the fuel flap spring and the latch?
The spring returns the flap to open when released; the latch is the catch that holds it shut. They're separate parts. A flap that won't stay closed usually needs the latch, while one that won't pop open when unlatched usually needs this spring.
