Remschijf - geventileerde remschijf achter, gecoat, onderdeel van de remmontage achter.

De schijf vormt het wrijvingsoppervlak waartegen de remblokken achter klemmen tijdens het remmen. De geventileerde (intern geventileerde) constructie trekt lucht door de schijf om warmte af te voeren tijdens langdurig of zwaar remmen, waardoor het risico op fading van de remmen wordt verminderd. De schijf wordt gemonteerd op de achternaaf en draait mee met het wiel.

Een beschermende anti-corrosie coating wordt aangebracht op de niet-wrijvende oppervlakken - de centrale hoed en de buitenrand - om roest te weerstaan en het uiterlijk te behouden. De coating slijt bij normaal gebruik van de wrijvingsband af naarmate de remblokken inslijten.
