Frequently asked questions

What is the 3.6 TDV8 auxiliary drive belt used for?
This is the primary accessory drive belt for the 3.6L V8 TDV8 diesel engine. Driven from the crankshaft pulley, it turns the power steering pump, the air conditioning compressor and the coolant pump, running between the cylinder head and the coolant pipe at the front of the engine.
Which Range Rover Sport does this belt fit?
This belt fits the Range Rover Sport L320 2005-2013 with the 3.6L V8 32V TDV8 diesel engine. Early cars with ACE suspension run from VIN 7A000001 to 9A999999, and later cars from AA000001. Confirm your engine is the 3.6 TDV8 before ordering.
Why is it important not to run this belt past its service life?
Because the coolant pump sits on this belt, a thrown or broken belt takes out coolant circulation as well as power steering assistance. That risks overheating on top of lost steering assistance, so replace at the first sign of rib cracking, glazing or edge fraying.
What should be checked when fitting the drive belt?
Check the tensioner and idler pulley bearings while the belt is off, as worn pulley bearings will quickly damage a new belt. The belt is held in tension by the automatic tensioner, so confirm the tensioner moves freely and holds its preload.
