Het binnenste uiteinde van de achterasaandrijfas grijpt aan op het differentieel tandwiel; deze borgring zit in een groef op de as en klemt achter het tandwiel om de as axiaal te vergrendelen, waardoor deze niet kan terugtrekken onder belasting.
