Uitlaatgastemperatuursensor meet de uitlaatgastemperatuur aan de voorkant van het dieselpartikelfilter, in het upstreamgedeelte van het nabehandelingssysteem.

Het stuurt een temperatuursignaal naar de motor-ECU, die dit gebruikt om de regeneratie van het dieselpartikelfilter (DPF) te regelen en om het DPF en de katalysator te beschermen tegen oververhitting. Gemonteerd op V6- en V8-dieselmotoren die zijn uitgerust met een DPF.
