Waterdetector detecteert water dat zich in het brandstoffilter in de brandstoffiltratie-eenheid heeft verzameld.

Dieselbrandstof voert water mee dat het filter scheidt en in de basis vasthoudt. Wanneer het opgehoopte water de detector bereikt, geeft deze een signaal aan het motormanagementsysteem om de bestuurder te waarschuwen dat het filter moet worden afgetapt, waardoor het injectiesysteem wordt beschermd tegen binnendringend water.
