What is the DA5551 clutch kit and what does it include?

The DA5551 is a heavy-duty clutch kit for the 200TDi and 300TDi diesel engines. It comprises the clutch cover (pressure plate), the driven friction plate and the release bearing, giving the three main parts to renew the clutch on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.

How does this differ from the less-bearing and fork clutch kits?

The DA5551 includes the cover, plate and release bearing. If you already have a good bearing, the DA5552 supplies the cover and plate without it. For a full refresh, the GA5551KIT adds a heavy-duty release fork and bearing. Pick the kit that matches what you are replacing.

Should I replace the release bearing when doing the clutch?

Yes. The release bearing is included in the DA5551 because it is best renewed whenever the clutch is out, as reaching it again means splitting the gearbox from the engine. Inspect the release fork and spigot bush at the same time while access is easy.
