The STC3338G is the Facet-branded engine coolant thermostat for the 2.5L six-cylinder BMW M51 diesel. It sits in the coolant outlet housing at the cylinder head, holding the engine at its regulated running temperature by opening to the radiator once the wax element reaches temperature.
Why would the STC3338G thermostat need changing?
The STC3338G is renewed when it sticks. Stuck open, the M51 diesel runs cold with poor cabin heat; stuck closed, it overheats quickly. Renew the outlet housing seal when fitting the STC3338G, then refill and bleed the cooling system.
Which vehicle takes the STC3338G thermostat?
