What does the STC4378 water pump do?
The STC4378 water pump circulates coolant through the Rover V8 block, heads and radiator. It's belt driven off the front of the engine and keeps coolant moving whenever the engine is running. This pump is supplied with a gasket for the mounting face.
Which Rover V8 models does the STC4378G fit?
The STC4378G fits Defender V8 EFI from 1983 to 2006, Discovery 1 V8 EFI from VIN MA081992, Discovery 2 V8, Range Rover Classic V8 EFI from MA081992, and Range Rover P38 1994 to 2001 up to VIN XA417382. P38 buyers should check that VIN ceiling before ordering.
What are the signs a Rover V8 water pump is failing?
A failing water pump usually leaks coolant from the weep hole below the pulley, or the bearing starts rumbling and the pulley develops play. Overheating that gets worse at low speed points the same way. Many owners replace the pump while the timing cover or belts are already off.
