Frequently asked questions

What is the Fuel Tank Strap used for?
The Fuel Tank Strap is a retaining strap that clamps the fuel tank against its cradle and the chassis, holding the tank firmly in position beneath the vehicle. It fits the Land Rover Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and Range Rover Classic, petrol and diesel.
How many straps secure the fuel tank?
Fuel tanks are typically held by more than one strap, so check how many your tank uses before ordering. On the Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic this strap is part of the tank strap assembly. It's sold individually, so match the quantity to your setup.
Why replace the fuel tank strap?
Fuel tank straps typically corrode where they sit exposed under the vehicle, and a rusted strap can fail and let the tank drop. Replacing a weakened strap restores secure mounting. It's commonly renewed while the tank is lowered for pump or sender work.
