What are the DA5509 steering arms and what do they do?

The DA5509 is a heavy-duty drag link and track rod set for the Discovery 2 (1998-2004). These steering arms transmit movement from the steering box to the swivel housings, and are made from heavy-duty steel with a zinc-plated finish for off-road durability.

What is included in the set?

The set includes the steering arms plus four track rod ends, so the drag link and track rod can both be renewed with their joints in one kit. It suits the Discovery 2, and fitting new track rod ends means the steering geometry needs setting up afterwards.

Why upgrade to heavy-duty steering arms?

Heavy-duty steering arms resist bending better than standard arms, which can distort from kerb strikes or off-road impacts and upset the steering. On the Discovery 2 the uprated arms are a common fit for off-road and towing use, as a bent drag link causes wandering steering.
