Where is this blanking plug located?
This blanking plug sits in the plenum air-take extension on the scuttle panel of the Discovery 2, at the base of the windscreen near the wiper mechanism. It plugs the wiper hole left open on applications where that aperture isn't used.
Why fit a blanking plug in this aperture?
Sealing this aperture stops rainwater and leaves dropping into the scuttle and plenum on the Discovery 2, helping protect the heater intake and reduce damp ingress. A missing or perished plug is a common cause of water finding its way into the scuttle.
