What does the FSE000080 bonnet release cable do?
The FSE000080 bonnet release cable connects the interior release handle in the driver's footwell to the bonnet latch on the Land Rover Discovery 2. Pulling the handle draws the cable and releases the latch so the bonnet can be opened from inside the cabin. It's supplied as a single, one-piece cable.
Why does the Discovery 2 bonnet cable fail?
Discovery 2 bonnet release cables typically fail when the inner cable corrodes, frays or seizes in its outer sleeve, or the end fitting detaches at the handle or latch. The usual symptom is a slack handle that no longer pops the bonnet. A fresh cable restores a positive pull to the latch.
Is the bonnet release cable hard to fit?
Fitting the Discovery 2 bonnet cable is typically a DIY job but can be fiddly, as the cable routes from the footwell handle through the bulkhead to the latch. Access at the latch end and threading the cable through the bulkhead grommet usually take the most time. Basic hand tools are normally enough.
