Magnetische aftapplug - R380 handgeschakelde 5-versnellingsbak.

De aftapplug is voorzien van een permanente magneet die ferrometaaldeeltjes in de versnellingsbakolie aantrekt en vasthoudt. Deze deeltjes, die ontstaan door normale slijtage van tandwielen en lagers, worden vastgehouden aan de magnetische punt en bij elke olieverversing samen met de plug verwijderd, waardoor wordt voorkomen dat metaalhoudend slijtagedebris opnieuw door de tandwieloverbrenging en lagers circuleert.

What does the magnetic drain plug do?
This magnetic drain plug seals the gearbox drain hole and uses a permanent magnet to attract and hold ferrous wear particles suspended in the oil. The debris collects on the tip and is removed with the plug at each oil change, keeping metal particles out of the gear train and bearings.
Which gearbox does this drain plug fit?
This plug fits the R380 5-speed manual gearbox in the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) and Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It's the plug-and-magnet assembly for the transmission case, so check you have the R380 gearbox before ordering.
Should the magnetic drain plug be replaced or reused at an oil change?
The magnetic drain plug can typically be reused as long as the magnet is intact and the sealing face and threads are undamaged. Wipe the collected metal paste off the tip at each oil change. Replace it if the seal or threads are worn or the magnet is chipped.
