Do the seals have to be replaced every time the injector comes out?
Yes. Injector sealing washers are single use. Once an injector has been clamped down, the washer has crushed to shape and will not seal reliably a second time. Reusing it typically lets combustion gas blow past the injector, leaving carbon deposits and a ticking noise.
