Schokdemper is de adaptieve achterdemper die wordt gebruikt in het elektronisch gestuurde luchtveersysteem. Deze is tussen de carrosserie en de achterwielophanging gemonteerd om de beweging van de ophanging te regelen.

In combinatie met de achterste luchtveer weerstaat en reguleert de demper de veerbeweging over oneffenheden in de weg, waardoor het wiel contact met de weg behoudt en de carrosserie wordt gestabiliseerd. Bij deze toepassing is de dempingssnelheid continu variabel en elektronisch instelbaar door het veercontrolesysteem als reactie op de weg- en rijomstandigheden.
