De arm verbindt de voorste wielnaafdrager met het subframe, regelt de wielgeometrie en absorbeert de laterale en longitudinale belastingen die ontstaan door veerweg en bochten. Geïntegreerde draaipuntbussen isoleren weggeluidtrillingen van het chassis en laten de arm bewegen terwijl het wiel zijn slag maakt.
