What does the coolant expansion tank do?
The LR128194LR expansion tank is the header and overflow reservoir of the cooling circuit on the Range Rover Velar (2017 on). It receives coolant displaced as the system heats and returns it as it cools. It's also the fill point and level check, and the pressure cap seats on its neck.
Why do expansion tanks fail?
The moulded tank and its cap seal are wear items. Hairline cracking around the seams and filler neck, or a perished cap seal, shows up as slow coolant loss and repeated low-level warnings on the Range Rover Velar. Replace it if you see seepage or persistent low coolant.
