What is the steering gear and what does it do?
The steering gear is the complete rack-and-pinion assembly at the centre of the electric power-assisted steering system. It converts steering column rotation into lateral rack travel that acts through the track rods to turn the front wheels, with an electric motor on the housing providing the assist.
Is this steering gear specific to right-hand-drive?
This steering gear is for right-hand-drive vehicles only. The assembly is handed and does not interchange with the opposite-hand gear, so a left-hand-drive car needs the LHD unit. Confirm your vehicle is RHD before ordering.
