Achterdeurvergrendeling is het vergrendelingsmechanisme dat de achterdeur aan de carrosserie bevestigt.

Deze is gemonteerd in de achterrand van de deur en grijpt in de sluitplaat op de deurstijl om de deur gesloten te houden. Het mechanisme integreert de vergrendelings- en ontgrendelingsfuncties die zijn gekoppeld aan de binnen- en buitenhandgrepen en de centrale vergrendelingsactuator. Het biedt de primaire en secundaire vergrendelingsposities die de deur veilig gesloten houden en werkt samen met de kinderslotfunctie, indien aanwezig.

Een versleten of defecte vergrendeling kan ertoe leiden dat de deur onverwachts opengaat, niet vergrendelt of niet sluit; vervanging herstelt een veilige vergrendeling en een correcte sluiting.
