Frequently asked questions

What do castor correction wedges do on a leaf-sprung Land Rover?

Castor correction wedges sit between the front axle and leaf springs to restore the castor and differential pin angle on a leaf-sprung Series 2 or 3. After a suspension lift the axle rotates and steering self-centring suffers, and the wedges tip the axle back to correct it.

Do I need one or two castor wedges?

You need the pair, and this listing is supplied as a pair, one per side. Castor correction has to be equal on both front springs to keep the steering geometry even. Fitting only one side would leave the axle angle uneven across the front.

Which Land Rovers do these castor wedges fit?

These castor wedges suit the leaf-sprung Land Rover Series 2 and 3 front axle. They're the small centre-pin type, so they locate on the smaller spring centre pin. They fit with the standard U-bolts, which aren't supplied with the wedges.

When do I need castor correction wedges?

You typically need castor wedges after fitting a suspension lift or new springs to a Series 2 or 3, which alters the axle angle. Signs of lost castor include vague, wandering steering and poor self-centring after a lift has gone on.
