Frequently asked questions

What does the silicone intercooler hose do?

The Silicone Intercooler Hose connects the intercooler to the turbocharger in the induction circuit of the 2.5L TDi (200/300 TDi) Defender, carrying pressurised charge air. Silicone construction typically handles heat and boost better than standard rubber.

Which Defender does this intercooler hose fit?

This silicone intercooler hose fits the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) with the 2.5L TDi engine, covering both the 200 TDi and 300 TDi. It routes between the intercooler and the turbocharger inlet.

Why do intercooler hoses fail on the TDi?

Intercooler hoses typically fail when the rubber splits or the ends soften under boost and heat, causing a loss of power and black smoke on the 200/300 TDi Defender. A silicone hose is often fitted as a more durable replacement.
