The MAP sensor is the manifold absolute pressure and charge-air temperature sensor in the inlet manifold. It reports intake manifold pressure and air temperature to the engine control module, which uses the signal to calculate air mass and govern fuelling and boost.
Which engines does this MAP sensor fit?
This MAP sensor fits diesel engines only, specifically the AJ200D, AJ20D4 and AJ20D6 units. It doesn't fit petrol engines. It mounts in the inlet manifold and corresponds to JLR section 12A697.
What are the symptoms of a failing MAP sensor?
A failing MAP sensor typically causes poor running, loss of power, black smoke, or a boost-related fault code, since the ECM can't read manifold pressure correctly. A new sensor restores accurate fuelling and boost control on these diesel engines.
