Frequently asked questions

What does the front road coil spring do on a Discovery 2?

The front road coil spring seats in the front spring pan on the axle beam and bears against the chassis spring turret, acting as the main load-bearing element of the front suspension. The road specification holds standard ride height. Fitted to the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1999-2004), supplied as a single spring.

Do I need one front coil spring or two?

This is supplied as a single spring, but the front springs are usually replaced as a pair so ride height and handling stay even side to side. Fitting one new and one tired spring on the Discovery 2 front axle can leave the vehicle sitting unevenly.

What are the signs a front coil spring needs replacing?

A sagging or uneven ride height is the common sign a front coil spring is tired on the Discovery 2, and springs can crack or break with age and corrosion. Replacing it restores the standard road ride height this spring is designed to hold.

Is this spring suitable for off-road use?

This is a road-specification front spring, suited to on-road and light off-road use at standard ride height on the Discovery 2. For heavy off-road loading or a raised ride height you'd typically look at an uprated or lifted spring instead.
