Brand Delphi

Frequently asked questions

What does the FTC3570 upper ball joint do?
The FTC3570 is the upper ball joint in the front swivel housing on the Discovery 2 (1998-2004) and Range Rover P38 (1994-2002). It's one of the two pivots that let the front hub assembly swivel for steering while carrying suspension loads.
Should the upper and lower ball joints be replaced together?
Yes, the upper ball joint FTC3570 is usually renewed in pairs with the lower joint FTC3571. Both wear at a similar rate, so fitting them together restores steering precision and avoids stripping the swivel housing twice.
Do I need a new retaining nut with the FTC3570?
The front upper ball joint retaining nut is NY214043, available separately. Fitting a fresh nut on reassembly is typically good practice once the original has been disturbed.
What are the signs the FTC3570 needs replacing?
Worn upper ball joints typically cause steering wander, a knock over bumps, and uneven tyre wear on the Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38. Play felt when the wheel is rocked top to bottom usually confirms the joint is worn.
