What does the Watts linkage centre bush (RGX100960) do?
The Watts linkage centre bush forms the flexible pivot in the rear Watts linkage on the Discovery 2, which locates the rear axle sideways as the suspension moves. It fits either the top or bottom link position, cushioning the joint between the link and its mounting while keeping the axle centred.
What's the difference between the centre bush (RGX100960) and the outer bush (RGX100970)?
The centre bush (RGX100960) sits at the middle pivot of the rear Watts linkage and serves the top or bottom link, while the outer bush (RGX100970) fits at the outer end of the transverse link. They're different bushes for different points, so check which position you're replacing before ordering.
How is this Watts linkage bush fitted?
This bush is a press fit into the Watts linkage. Don't apply heat during installation, as heat will damage the bush and render it unserviceable. It's usually pressed in with a suitable tool or press, so it's a job better suited to someone with the right equipment.
