Frequently asked questions

What is the YWY000080 receiver used for?

The YWY000080 is a 433MHz radio remote control receiver for the Discovery 2 central locking and alarm system. Fitted in the roof headlining, it picks up the signal from the remote key fob to operate central locking and arm or disarm the factory alarm.

Why does this receiver fail on the Discovery 2?

This receiver commonly fails from water ingress, typically caused by a leaking rear sunroof seal above the headlining where the unit sits. Water reaching the receiver can leave it unresponsive to the key fob, so it's worth checking the sunroof drains and seal when replacing it.

How do I confirm this fits my Discovery 2?

This receiver fits the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004) with the anti-theft alarm, central locking and immobilisation. It's also cross-referenced to YWY100440L. Confirm your vehicle has the factory alarm system, since non-alarm cars use a different setup.
