Koppelingspedaalcontactschakelaar in het motormanagementsysteem van de dieselmotor. Gemonteerd op de hoofdcilinder van de koppeling, geeft de schakelaar een signaal aan de ECM van de motor wanneer het koppelingspedaal wordt bediend.

De ECM gebruikt dit signaal om stotterdemping toe te passen tijdens het schakelen, waardoor het motortoerental stabiel blijft om het schakelen soepeler te maken en de uitlaatgassen te beperken. Met het pedaal in rust zijn de contacten van de schakelaar gesloten en voeden ze de ECM; door het pedaal in te drukken, openen de contacten en wordt de voeding onderbroken.

What does the clutch pedal switch do?
This clutch pedal switch is mounted at the clutch master cylinder and signals the engine ECM when the clutch pedal is pressed. The ECM uses that signal to apply surge damping during gear changes, holding engine speed steady to smooth the shift and limit exhaust emissions.
What happens if this switch fails?
With the switch faulty, the ECM may not receive a reliable clutch signal, which can cause rough or jerky gear changes as the surge damping doesn't engage properly. In some cases a fault code will also be logged for the missing or inconsistent signal.
How does this switch actually detect the clutch pedal position?
With the pedal at rest, the switch contacts stay closed and feed a signal to the ECM. Pressing the pedal opens the contacts and removes that feed, so the ECM reads pedal position purely from the switch's open or closed state, not from a variable sensor.
Is this switch specific to diesel engines?
Yes, this switch is part of the diesel engine management circuit. A separate switch may be used on the equivalent petrol application, so confirm your engine type before ordering.
