De zuiger beweegt in de cilinderboring en draagt de verbrandingsdruk over naar de drijfstang en de krukas. Deze draagt de zuigerveren die de verbrandingskamer afdichten en de oliefilm op de cilinderwand regelen.

Dit is een +0.020" overmaatse zuiger, gedimensioneerd voor een cilinderblok dat tijdens een motorrevisie 0,020 inch groter is opgeboord dan de standaardmaat. De overmaat moet overeenkomen met de diameter van de gereviseerde boring.
