What does the Haldex Gen 4 service kit cover?
This kit covers the periodic service of the Haldex coupling, the unit mounted at the front of the rear differential that controls torque transfer to the rear axle. It renews the coupling fluid and the pump filter.
Which vehicles use the Gen 4 Haldex coupling this kit is for?
It fits the Range Rover Evoque L538 (2012-2018) from 2014 onward, and the Freelander 2 (2006-2014) from VIN 9H000001. Earlier build vehicles used a different Haldex generation.
Why is the Haldex generation important when ordering?
The Haldex coupling generations aren't interchangeable, so a Gen 4 service kit won't work correctly on an earlier coupling. Check your build date or VIN against the ranges above before ordering.
Why does the Haldex coupling need periodic servicing?
The Haldex coupling relies on a hydraulic pump and a wet multi-plate clutch pack, and the fluid degrades with heat and use. Degraded fluid or a blocked pump filter typically shows up as jerky or inconsistent all-wheel-drive engagement.
