Frequently asked questions

What does this front differential bearing kit cover?
This kit overhauls the bearings in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU), the front drive unit on the Freelander 2 that bolts to the transverse gearbox, carries the front differential, and sends drive rearwards to the propshaft.
Does this kit include the PTU oil?
No, it's supplied without oil. You'll need to order the transfer unit fluid separately and renew it as part of the rebuild.
Which Freelander 2 models does this fit?
It fits the Freelander 2 (2006-2014) front differential / PTU, replacing the bearings during a rebuild rather than as a bolt-in assembly swap.
Why do PTU bearings need overhauling?
PTU bearings typically wear from constant load transferring drive between the gearbox and front differential. Worn bearings show up as whining, grinding or vibration from the front of the vehicle, especially under acceleration.
