What does the A/C Compressor O-Ring do on a Land Rover?
The A/C compressor O-ring seals the refrigerant line union where the pipe end fitting meets the compressor port. It's the sealing element that keeps the air conditioning circuit pressure-tight at that joint, clamped between the fitting and the port face.
Can the A/C compressor O-ring be reused, or does it need replacing every time?
This O-ring is a single-use item and should be renewed whenever the compressor joint is opened. Reusing it risks a slow refrigerant leak that shows up as reduced cooling performance later. Lubricate the new O-ring with clean refrigerant oil before fitting.
Which Land Rover models use this A/C compressor O-ring?
Fits the Defender 2007-2016 (Puma) with manual air conditioning, covering the 2.4L Duratorq TDCi 140PS engine from VIN 7A000001 to BA999999 and the 2.2L 122PS engine from VIN CA000001. Also fits the Freelander 1 1996-2006 with the 2.5 KV6 petrol engine, automatic transmission, and air conditioning.
Does fitting this O-ring require discharging the air conditioning system?
