What does the LR004161 thermostat housing gasket do?
This gasket seals the joint between the thermostat housing and the engine on the 2.2L diesel. It contains coolant and keeps a leak-free seal around the thermostat on the Freelander 2 (2006-2014), Range Rover Evoque L538 (2012-2018) and Discovery Sport (2015 on).
When should this gasket be replaced?
Replace this gasket whenever the thermostat housing is removed, or if coolant is seeping from the housing joint. The gasket hardens and takes a set with heat cycling, so refitting the housing with an old one typically leads to a coolant leak.
Which engine does it fit?
This gasket fits the 2.2L diesel engine (DW12) in the Freelander 2, Evoque L538 and Discovery Sport. It doesn't fit the petrol or other diesel engines in these models, so confirm you have the 2.2L diesel before ordering.
