What does the camshaft position sensor do on the 2.2 diesel?
The camshaft position sensor tells the engine ECU the camshaft position so it can time fuel injection correctly on the 2.2L diesel. This OEM sensor (LR016847) fits the Freelander 2, Range Rover Evoque L538 and Discovery Sport, and is fitted to the cylinder head cover.
What are the symptoms of a faulty camshaft position sensor?
Symptoms include hard starting or a no-start, rough running, loss of power, and the engine warning light with a camshaft-sensor fault code. On the 2.2 diesel a failing sensor can cause intermittent stalling. Replacing it usually restores normal running once the code clears.
Which engine does this camshaft sensor fit?
This sensor fits the 2.2L diesel (Td4) in the Freelander 2 (2006-2014), Evoque L538 (2012-2018) and Discovery Sport (2015 on). Petrol and other diesel engines use a different sensor, so confirm you have the 2.2 diesel before ordering.
