Frequently asked questions

What does the front lower arm suspension bush do on a Freelander 1?
This front lower arm suspension bush is the inner pivot bush of the front lower wishbone on the Freelander 1 (1996-2006), pressing into the arm at its inboard chassis mounting. It absorbs road vibration and gives the arm controlled compliance as it moves under braking and cornering loads.
How many of these bushes does my Freelander need?
Two of these front lower arm bushes are typically needed per vehicle, one for each side, on the Freelander 1. They usually wear at a similar rate, so replacing both together is common practice. This is the larger of the bushes used in the lower arm.
How is this different from the other lower arm bush?
This is the larger bush in the Freelander 1 front lower suspension arm. The arm also uses a smaller bush at a separate location, which is a different part. Compare your old bush by size, or check Land Rover number RBX101780, so you order the correct one.
What are the signs this bush needs replacing?
A worn front lower arm bush typically causes clunking over uneven surfaces, vaguer handling and uneven tyre wear as the arm geometry shifts under load on the Freelander 1. Cracked or perished rubber, or visible movement of the arm at the pivot, means it's time to replace it.
