Naarmate de ophanging de grens van de opwaartse veerweg van het wiel nadert, comprimeert de veerhulp om de as tegen het chassis te dempen, schokbelastingen te absorberen en de schokdemper en omliggende structuur te beschermen bij zware compressie.
