What is the IAB100030R transfer box?
The IAB100030R is a reconditioned LT230 43D transfer box with a 1.4:1 high range ratio, fitted behind the main gearbox on Defender, Discovery 1 and Discovery 2. It splits drive permanently between the front and rear propshafts through a centre differential and provides selectable high and low range.
What's included and what's left off this reconditioned transfer box?
This unit is supplied without the transfer brake assembly, gear change linkage, speedometer pinion and differential lock switch. You transfer these parts over from your original unit when fitting.
Which VIN range does the IAB100030R cover on Defender and Discovery?
On Defender 1986-2006 (300 Tdi/Td5) this transfer box applies up to VIN 2A999999. Discovery 1 (1989-1998, 300 Tdi) is covered from VIN FA393361 to WA799999, and Discovery 2 (1998-2004, Td5) uses the same 43D 1.4:1 unit.
