Lierkabelvergrendeling is een nylon band die de lierkabel aan de basis van de liertrommel bevestigt.

Het wordt gemonteerd wanneer de kabel wordt opgewonden en ontlast de borgbout van de trommel, terwijl het weerstand biedt wanneer de kabel vrij uitspoelt, wat de machinist signaleert om te stoppen voordat er te weinig lijn op de trommel overblijft. Het behouden van het minimale veilige aantal windingen rond de trommel is wat de kabel onder belasting houdt tijdens het trekken. De band is bestand tegen water en UV-blootstelling.

Why does retaining a minimum number of wraps on the drum matter?
Keeping a minimum safe number of wraps around the drum is what holds the winch rope under load during a pull. The BA 2679 retainer adds resistance as the rope free-spools, warning the operator to stop before the line runs too low. Running off the safe wrap count can let the rope pull free of the drum under load.
Does the winch rope retainer wear out, and what should I check?
The BA 2679 retainer is made from nylon webbing that resists water and UV exposure, but like any webbing it can typically degrade with prolonged sun, abrasion and grit over time. Inspect it for fraying, cuts or stiffness and replace it if the webbing is damaged, since it helps secure the rope to the drum.
