What is the TF0016 steering guard for?

The TF0016 steering guard is underbody protection covering the steering box and track rod on the Land Rover Defender up to 2016. It is a slotted alloy plate in a natural alloy finish, carried on steel side plates, shielding the steering components from rocks and ruts off-road.

What is the difference between the natural and black steering guards?

The TF0016 is the natural alloy finish version; a black powder-coated version is available separately. Both are the same slotted alloy guard covering the steering box and track rod on the Defender, so choose the finish you prefer, as the protection is identical.

Does the steering guard fit without modifying the Defender?

Yes, the steering guard mounts to the chassis front cross-member and chassis rails on the Defender up to 2016 using existing structure. The plate is tapered to preserve the approach angle, and laser-cut slots let cooling air reach the cooling system behind it.
