What is this 365mm rear brake disc?

This is a vented 365mm rear brake disc for vehicles built with the front 20 / rear 20-inch disc and caliper size. It bolts to the rear hub and gives the surface the rear caliper clamps against. Cast internal vanes pull cooling air through the disc to carry away braking heat.

Which models and VIN ranges fit?

The 365mm rear disc fits the New Defender L663 2020+, Discovery 5 2017+ (Nitra build from VIN K2000001), Range Rover L405 2013+ (from VIN JA000001) and Range Rover Sport L494 2014+ non-SVR (from VIN GA652129). Check that your vehicle uses the 20-inch rear package.

Should both discs and the pads be replaced together?

Yes, both rear discs should be replaced as an axle pair so braking effort stays balanced side to side, and new rear pads should be fitted at the same time. Fitting one new disc against a worn one leads to uneven braking and faster pad wear.

Why do rear brake discs fail?

Rear brake discs fail through wear below minimum thickness, scoring, or heat distortion, often showing as vibration under braking. On the L405, L494, Discovery 5 and New Defender the rear caliper also clamps for the electric park brake, so a corroded rear disc can weaken parking-brake hold.
