Frequently asked questions

What is the conrod bearing kit used for?
The conrod bearing kit supplies a complete set of big-end bearing shells for the connecting rods on Land Rover four-cylinder engines. It covers the 2.5 petrol, 2.5 diesel, 2.5 Turbo D, 200TDi and 300TDi used in the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
What does 0.010" undersize mean?
The 0.010" undersize marking means the shells are machined 0.010 inches (0.254mm) smaller than standard, to suit a crankshaft whose connecting rod journals have been reground to that undersize. A crank with standard journals needs standard shells.
Does one kit cover the whole engine?
One kit covers all four connecting rod big-ends, so a single kit does a complete four-cylinder engine. Match the undersize to the crankshaft regrind before ordering, since 0.010" shells only suit journals reground to 0.010" under.
