Aftermarket Part
Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.

Frequently asked questions

What does the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor do?
The MAP sensor measures the absolute air pressure inside the inlet manifold and reports it to the engine control module. The ECU uses this to calculate engine load and air mass, and on this turbocharged 2.0L petrol engine to monitor boost pressure, setting the correct fuelling and ignition timing. It mounts on the inlet manifold.
Which engine does this MAP sensor fit?
This MAP sensor fits the 2.0L 16-valve turbocharged petrol engine (240PS). Applications include the Discovery Sport (2015+), Freelander 2, Range Rover L405 (2013-2022), Range Rover Sport L494 (2014-2022) and Range Rover Evoque L538 (2012-2018). Confirm your vehicle has the 2.0L turbo petrol unit.
What are the symptoms of a failing MAP sensor?
Symptoms of a failing MAP sensor include poor running, hesitation, reduced power, higher fuel consumption, or an engine warning light with boost or fuelling fault codes. On this turbocharged engine a faulty sensor can disrupt boost control. Failure is typically caused by contamination or an internal fault rather than wear.
Is the MAP sensor easy to replace?
Replacing the MAP sensor is usually a straightforward job. It typically unbolts from the inlet manifold and disconnects from a single wiring plug, so it's within reach of a competent DIY mechanic with basic hand tools. Clearing any stored fault codes once the new sensor is fitted is normally recommended.
