What does the camshaft position sensor do?
The camshaft position sensor tells the engine ECU the camshaft position so it can time fuel injection and ignition correctly. This aftermarket sensor (LR014372) fits mainly the petrol 5.0 V8 and 3.0 V6 supercharged engines and is typically fitted in the timing gear cover.
What are the symptoms of a failing camshaft position sensor?
Symptoms include a hard-starting or non-starting engine, misfires, hesitation, or the engine warning light with a camshaft-sensor fault code. On these petrol V6 and V8 engines a failing sensor can cause stalling. Replacing it usually clears the fault once the code is reset.
