What is the SS110201E timing bolt?
This is an M10 x 20 socket-head timing bolt. On belt-driven diesels it secures the timing belt tensioner, and on other installations it retains the timing rear cover. It is used on the Defender, Freelander 1 and Range Rover P38 diesel engines.
How should this timing bolt be tightened?
Because this bolt clamps the timing belt tensioner, it is a torque-sensitive fixing. Tighten it to the workshop manual torque so tensioner setting stays correct on the 300 Tdi. An under-torqued bolt can let the tensioner slip.
