Het binnenste lager zit aan de kop van de rondselas, het dichtst bij het kroonwiel, en positioneert en voorspant samen met het buitenste rondsellager het rondsel. Het draagt de axiale en radiale belastingen die ontstaan wanneer de aandrijving door de kroonwiel- en ronselvertanding gaat.
